Etude expérimentale de l'effet de l'huile lubrifiante sur le transfert de chaleur au niveau du carter d'un petit compresseur frigorifique.

Experimental investigation of lubricating oil effect on heat transfer at the shell of a small reciprocating compressor.

Résumé

In small reciprocating compressors adopted for household refrigeration, a large amount of energy used to compress the gas is converted into heat. Part of this heat leaves the compressor through the discharge line and the remainder is rejected through the compressor shell. If heat is not sufficiently transferred throughout the shell to the external ambient, the compressor efficiency can be drastically reduced and, sometimes, even be subjected to reliability issues related to high levels of temperature in its components. The oil inside the compressor acts as a lubricating agent for bearings and also as a transport agent to transfer heat from the kit to the shell directly. The present work experimentally investigates the effect of lubricating oil on the heat transfer process that takes place on the shell of a small reciprocating refrigeration compressor. To that extent, several heat flux sensors and thermocouples were installed to quantify heat transfer and temperature with and without oil on the shell surfaces.
