Étude expérimentale de la cryothérapie partielle prolongée du corps.

Experimental study of prolonged partial body cryotherapy.

Résumé

The most commonly used whole or partial body cryotherapy exposure time is 180 sec. However, there are no systematic data on the maximum duration of this cryoexposure. Two volunteers participated in partial body cryotherapy (PBC) until the first sign of a cold burn (male, BMI is 22,8 and 24,5 kg/m2). The cold burn temperature was reached at the lower part of the leg after an exposure duration of 360-420 sec. The cooling gas preparation unit was used from the liquid nitrogen cryosauna – Krion (Russia). Mean inlet gas temperature was 95±2 K (at average flow rate after cabin cooldown 0,045±0,03 kg/s). The volunteers described their experience. Two thermal imagers were used to capture the skin temperature. Increasing of the PBC duration may be useful for modifying the cryotherapy protocols and make actual the reduction of the liquid nitrogen consumption of the cooling gas preparation units.
