Résumé

The valve motion strongly couples with the differential pressure between the cylinder and the suction and exhaust plenum, and the valve motion has a significant influence on the performance of the refrigerator compressor. In order to find out the interaction between pressure and reed valve motion, this paper presents an experimental investigation on the inner workings of refrigerator compressor especially the p-V indicator diagram (or WATT diagram) and the motion of the suction valve. The refrigerator compressor has been refitted to mount sensor conveniently. Three pressure sensors were installed to measure the p-V indicator diagram and the pressure pulsation, and a strain gauge was used to measure the motion of the suction valve. The suction valve motion strongly coupled with the pressure in the cylinder and the suction plenum which can be clearly observed. Under the experimental condition the power loss in suction process was considerable up to 14.5%. The sticky force of oil has a significant effect both on the motion of the suction valve and the suction phase of the compressor. And the delayed opening of reed valve increased the pressure pulsation in suction plenum. The experimental investigation and result could provide useful information for both efficiency testing and optimization of compressor performance.
