Résumé

This paper describes a novel film-inverting design for plate falling film absorber. It consists of consecutive inclined plates that are separated by small gaps. In the absorber, the absorbent solution is distributed at the top, forms a liquid film, and falls down along the first plate while absorbing the water vapour from an evaporator. At the bottom of this first plate, the film is guided to the second cooling plate and at the same the film is inverted, exposing the plate side liquid on the first cooling plate to the vapour. The absorption of vapour in the solution film is thus enhanced. Then the film can be guided to the third plate, where the aforementioned processes are repeated. A series of experiments have been done under different absorption pressures, absorbent flow rates, inlet absorbent concentrations and temperatures, and different plate cooling conditions. This study presents useful experiment data on the heat and mass transfer performance for the absorber.
