Etude expérimentale sur un évaporateur à plaques brasées utilisé dans les réfrigérateurs domestiques.

Experimental study of a "tube and sheet" evaporator used in domestic refrigerators.

Auteurs : ZOUGHAIB A., CLODIC D.

Résumé

European type domestic refrigerators are mainly natural convection appliances. The evaporator technology called "tube and sheet" is one of the cheapest natural convection evaporators in use. This heat exchanger is made of a serpentine pipe where the refrigerant flows and a metallic sheet in contact with the tube. The metallic sheet works as a fin increasing the heat transfer surface area. In the appliance, the evaporator is located behind the plastic liner. There is no mechanical assembly between the tube and the sheet; the contact is performed by the polyurethane foam pressure on the tube. The contact quality cannot be controlled easily because of the foaming process. In this work, the thermal contact quality is first determined by infrared thermography, and then an experimental measurement of the evaporator global heat transfer coefficient is presented. This study shows thatfor foamed-in evaporators, which are not accessible, a modelling work of the refrigerating system is needed to complete the measured dataset.
