Résumé

A numerical study has been carried out on a sprayed air flow. An Eulerian-Lagrangian model of droplets suspended in an air flow has been used, investigating the droplet evaporation and the resulting balances for humidity and temperature of the air as a function of droplet size in particular. Numerical simulations have been performed on a geometry corresponding to an experimental device that will allow the evaluation of the energy balance on a heat exchanger with and without injecting droplets in the air flow. Even with low water flow rates (0.025 l/min), the use of very fine droplets with size below 50-micrometer results in a significant air cooling (up to 15 K). Effective cooling of the air before a condenser is achievable and will be further investigated in the frame of a study aimed at the optimization of refrigerating systems.
