Evaluation de la performance d'un cycle à absorption amélioré à énergie solaire.

Performance evaluation of an improved absorption cycle driven by solar energy.

Résumé

A recent patent by G. Kunze issued Dec. 2002 discloses an improved absorption cycle which can be driven by solar energy. It accomplishes this by using a ternary mixture of water, ammonia and hydrogen. Ammonia acts as the refrigerant, hydrogen as inert gas and water as absorbent. Because the COP of any cooling machine depends strongly on the back cooling temperature, this is the temperature at which the waste heat created by the cooling process is dispensed into the ambient, we consider two possibilities of back cooling, one with a humid cooling tower (25 °C) and one with a dry fan coil (35 °C). It was found that in both cases the best performance of the combined system is at heating temperatures between 90 to 100 °C. A parametric study of the system is performed in order to investigate the effects of the pinches of temperature and the rate of degassing on the COP.
