Résumé
Cabin environment is a confined space with high occupancy density. It is important to create a healthy cabin environment for passengers and crew. How to evaluate the contaminants removal efficiency and air quality in the cabin becomes a key problem. This paper investigated the applicability of several commonly used indexes for evaluating the ventilation performance in a commercial airliner cabin. The study was carried out using a simulated cabin under summer ground condition. Firstly, the CFD program (FLUENT, RNG k-e) was validated with experimental data of airflow from MD-82. Then the validated CFD program was used to calculate the air distributions of different contaminant concentrations of different air supply systems commonly used in airplanes. Finally, the local mean age of air, ventilation effectiveness and air exchange rate in different cases were analyzed. The results show that various contaminant releasing concentrations had little effect on the ventilation effectiveness. Besides, among the three supply systems, the 4-inlets system had a better performance regarding to the evaluation index. The local ventilation effectiveness could predict the contaminant exhaust condition well in aircraft cabins .The air exchange rate is just the characteristic parameter of air distribution not related to contaminant concentration.
