Résumé

To comply with the Montreal Protocol requirements, developing countries have started the phase-out of ozone depleting substances such as hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) refrigerants in 2015, and they expect them to reach 35 % reduction in 2020. This commitment to start the phase-out of HCFC refrigerants, espe¬cially R-22, in developing countries is seen as an opportunity to introduce lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants and to leapfrog the need to go through the high-GWP hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrig¬erants. This paper summarizes an investigation of the performance of lower GWP refrigerants in mini-split air conditioning units operating at high ambient temperature environments that are typically experienced in some of the developing countries.
