Contamination risk factor of a damaged clean room.

Numéro : pap. 1075

Auteurs : ZAMANKHAN P.

Résumé

Contamination risk factor (CRF) quantifies the effectiveness of a barrier device such as a single door in preventing the migration of airborne particles into a cleanroom. This article describes simulations of a damaged cleanroom at the University of Iceland to assess its decontamination effectiveness. The fluid flow equations are solved using the Lattice-Boltzmann method with the Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (BGK) operator for collisions. The airborne particles are assumed to be spherical with a radius very large compared with the radius of the air molecules and collisions between the particles and the air molecules to be completely elastic. It is shown that due to the damage, the CRF level is quite high. This observation indicates that the quality of the items manufactured in the damaged cleanroom at the University of Iceland is highly questionable.
