Influence de la couche limite de déplacement sur les modèles d'écoulement à l'intérieur des échangeurs de chaleur à ailettes à persienne.

Displacement boundary-layer effects on flow patterns in louvred-fin heat exchangers.

Résumé

Flow visualization experiments and boundary-layer modelling show displacement boundary-layer effects to be important to the air-flow patterns within multi-louvred fin surfaces. This flow pattern is significant to thermal-hydraulic performance; if the wake from an upstream louvre flows onto a downstream louvre, a reduction in heat transfer will result. Prior research has suggested an optimal louvre angle, which depends on other fin parameters. Viscous effects have previously been neglected in selecting the louvre angle, but such effects are important at the low Reynolds numbers typically encountered in air-conditioning and refrigeration applications. In this paper, flow visualization results are presented, with particular attention to viscous effects at low Reynolds numbers. The flow visualization results are complimented with an analysis of the displacement boundary layer. The results enable improved understanding of the flow and provide a new criterion for the optimal louvre angle.
