Résumé

This article shows the influence of atmospheric air conditions in gas turbine thermodynamic efficiency, and the benefits with the utilization of inlet air cooling systems. A comparison has been made between two cooling technologies: evaporative cooling and absorption systems driven by turbine effluent gases. The four configurations considered in this study were: gas turbine without inlet air cooling, gas turbine with evaporative cooling, gas turbine with absorption cooling system that uses steam generated in a heat recovery boiler and gas turbine with absorption cooling system directly driven turbine effluent gases. The performance of each configuration was analyzed using a mathematical simulation model developed in this work. The inlet air cooling increases the power generated in the range of 2 to 3 % for evaporative cooling, 8 to 13 % for absorption system driven by water steam and 12 to 18 % for absorption system driven directly by exhaust gases.
