Résumé

The purpose of present study is to investigate the influence of tube diameter on heat transfer characteristics of refrigerant-oil mixture flow boiling inside metal-foam filled tubes. Experiments on metal-foam filled tubes with inner diameters of 7.9 mm and 13.8 mm were performed. The influence of tube diameter on heat transfer characteristics was analyzed based on the obtained experimental data of 7.9 mm and 13.8 mm tubes together with those of 23.4 mm and 26.0 mm tubes from literature. The results show that, the heat transfer coefficient decreases maximally by 32% and 42% as the tube diameter decreases from 23.4 mm to 13.8 mm and from 13.8 mm to 7.9 mm, respectively, and the heat transfer coefficient decrement becomes smaller as the oil concentration increases. A new heat transfer correlation reflecting the tube diameter influence was developed, and it agrees well with the experimental data for metal-foam filled tubes with different diameters.
