Résumé

The article assists project sponsors, project managers and others involved in the design and specification of refurbished or new buildings in the UK, to determine whether the provision of air conditioning or mechanical ventilation is necessary. Where they are proven to be necessary, it provides guidance on the selection of an appropriate type of system and gives information on the expected additional capital and running costs relative to a naturally ventilated building.
