An ever-increasing use of gas is a consequence of its availability, of power-related, economic and environmental advantages over other energy forms and of the reliability of supply and security of use compared to other energy systems and energy forms. Since the use of environmentally friendly energy systems forms represents the fundamental determinant of the sustainable development strategy, natural gas has established itself as an energy form of the 21st century because environmentally friendly and energy because of its other qualities. By accepting the sustainable development concept Croatia is following the latest trends of the European and world's developed countries in utilization of gas as the energy form of the future. The current gas consumption per capita in Croatia covers approximately 50 per cent of the market, which leaves considerable room for marketing activities with the aim to increase the scope of consumption on the existing and promote the use of gas on new markets.
