Résumé

The value of the European industrial gases business is estimated to have totalled USD 10.7 billion in 2002 - an increase of 3% over 2001 in US dollar terms assuming an average 2002 exchange rate of euros 1.06 to USD 1.00. However, there were some significant differences in growth trends in some of the major countries - with southern European countries, such as Spain and Italy, experiencing strong growth of 5 to 6% against marginal growth observed in the UK and Germany.
