Les marchés de pompes à chaleur et leurs facteurs.

Heat pump markets and market factors.

Auteurs : STUIJ B.

Résumé

The paper reviews the status of the current heat pump markets, and discusses the factors affecting them. It is noted that in individual countries today 0 to 5% of the heat demand is met by heat pumps. Annual sales of heat pumps (mostly residential systems) range from 0,5 to 2 per 1000 inhabitants in mature heating mainly markets, to 5 in the USA, and almost 50 in Japan. On market factors it is noted that a cooling demand in an affluent society remains the single most powerful driver for the development of the (reversible) heat pump market, as is exemplified by Japan and the US. A low electricity/fuel price ratio seems to be the second most powerful driver. An expected development of the air conditioner and reversible heat pump market is presented. With regards to the future heating-only and industrial heat pump markets, major efforts will be needed.
