Résumé

The features of an absorption refrigerating machine, which is using water-lithium bromide as the working medium, and generating cold below 0°C are stated. This machine uses a dilute lithium-bromide solution as a refrigerant to prevent the refrigerant from freezing at evaporation temperatures of below 0°C. It was a two-stage cycle design consisting of two pairs of evaporators and absorbers, with the low-temperature absorber being cooled by the high-temperature evaporator, to enable a wide pumping draw-up temperature range. The authors have shipped a steam-fired and gas-fired machine with a capacity of 176-964 kW and achieved a COP of 0.58 when generating -5°C brine. A practical example of the machine is also explained.
