Résumé

A new technology to measure the mechanical properties of metallic materials is developed in this paper. A shell-like circular cylindrical cavity deforms as being loaded with pressure and/or temperature change, and thus its electromagnetic resonance frequency shifts. It is then derived that the mechanical properties can be obtained by measuring this resonance frequency shift. Not only theoretical equations are introduced to predict the effects of related parameters, but also a finite element calculation process is successfully applied on this coupled-field study. Experiments at room temperature and liquid nitrogen temperature are also illustrated. The preliminary investigation results show this new technology is promising.
