Résumé

Knowledge of the thermal conductivity of a given material at low temperatures is one of the key properties needed for the effective design of cryogenic systems. Recently, we have modified the original apparatus for thermal conductivity measurement of metallic samples in order to testing non-metallic samples as well. This adaptation includes the development of flexible Cu flanges for fixing the sample, thermal anchoring of the warm end by a conductive wire to ensure the required cool-down speed of the sample's warm end, lowering the parasitic radiative heat leak by shielding the sample and calculation of the correction for the resulting heat loss by thermal radiation. The apparatus has the ability to cover a temperature range from about 4.5 K up to 300 K. Besides the new design, we introduce in this work capabilities of the method by presenting measurements performed on stainless steel 304 as a reference and composite materials reinforced by glass or carbon with different resins and types of hardeners.
