Miniref : minimisation de la charge en frigorigène de façon expérimentale dans des installations frigorifiques industrielles.

Miniref: minimizing refrigerant charge experimentally in industrial installations.

Résumé

MINIREF is a cooperative 6th Framework European Research Project, which aims to minimize refrigerant content of refrigeration installations. Two reference "state of the art" installations have been built, a 12.5 kW R-507 freezing installation and a 50 kW ammonia freezing installation. Refrigerant content and performance of these installations was measured. Then, in a combined effort of all participants, the reference designs were altered to achieve minimum refrigerant charge at the same or better performance. In the R-507 installation, use was made of mini channel heat exchangers, and a new type of internal heat exchanger which allows a high liquid fraction input to the evaporator and liquid output from the evaporator. In the heat exchangers refrigerant reduction is about 90-95% but the overall reduction reaches only 30% due to large liquid quantities in liquid lines and vessels. In the ammonia installation, large minichannel heat exchangers were used and a completely new intercooler concept was developed. The volume of the intercooler was decreased from 130 dm3 to 11 dm3 and the surge drum volume was decreased from 140 dm3 to 58 dm3.
