Résumé

The lack of a standard experimental procedure to determine thermal conductivity of complex fluids is noticeable in the study of heat transfer processes from practical and fundamental perspectives. Researchers have been using a wide variety of techniques leading to huge discrepancies in the values reported in the literature. Among them, one of the most used is the transient hot wire method, based on a linear heat source embedded in the test material. In this study, a recent transient hot wire based device was set up and checked by means of testing some extensively studied fluids in the literature that covers a thermal conductivity range from 0.1 to 0.7 W m-1 K-1. Thermal conductivities were tested in the temperature range from 283.15 to 333.15 K. Repeatibilities and deviations between the reported values and those from the literature are discussed.
