Résumé
The need for thermal comfort and clean air for occupants in buildings or vehicles is vital since we spend more than 90% of our time inside these enclosed environments. Worldwide, current directions of the leading powers are oriented towards the reduction of energy consumption and Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning systems make no exception. Personalized Ventilation applied to buildings may represent a solution for cases in which occupants are doing static activities. The main idea of Personalized Ventilation is to provide clean air close to the face of each occupant and to improve thermal comfort in his microenvironment. This study is a part of a larger research work related to the optimization of a Personalized Ventilation air diffuser in terms of passive control of jets flows in order to enhance mixing and entrainment. In a first step, a CFD investigation was conducted on a free jet issued from a cross-shaped orifice with straight lobes. LES and SST k-w viscous models were used for the numerical simulation. The SST k-w model provides more realistic results. Another subsequent CFD analysis is integrating the lobed jet in a personalized ventilation configuration with jet/thermal plume interaction. The results obtained from this second part of the study demonstrate the feasibility of using such geometry in order to achieve an efficient personalized system without draft risks. A next step is to perform CFD studies of whole human body, the objective being to find the ideal compromise between mesh, the viscous model and optimal results.
