Résumé

A finite-element model has been developed to simulate the behaviour of a high temperature regenerator (HTG) of a water/LiBr absorption chiller. The HTG design is based on the principle of natural convection in vertical boiling tubes with two phase flow inside the tubes and vertical flue gas flow outside the tubes. The functioning of a compact HTG heat exchanger has been simulated and a first experimental heat exchanger configuration has been designed and constructed. Experimental investigation in a 35-kW DE/SE chiller is currently prepared for. Based on the operational results, the thermo-hydraulic modelling of the HTG will be validated and refined. Within this paper, essential steps of the thermo-hydraulic model are presented, followed by predictions for the operational behaviour of the HTG gained from the model.
