Modélisation de l'absorption du gaz et de l'évaporation simultanée des gouttelettes de grande taille.

Modelling of simultaneous gas absorption and evaporation of large droplet.

Résumé

In this study we investigated numerically combined transient heat and mass transfer during evaporation and vapour condensation on the surface of a stagnant droplet in the presence of inert admixtures containing noncondensable solvable gas. The performed analysis is pertinent to slow droplet evaporation/condensation when Mach number is small (M lower than 1). The system of transient conjugate nonlinear energy and mass conservation equations was solved using an elastic approximation. Numerical calculations showed essential mutual effect of gas absorption and evaporation (condensation) at the surface of a droplet on the rate of heat and mass transfer in the presence of inert admixtures for water droplet/nitrogen/water vapour/carbon dioxide (ammonia) system. Consequently, the use of additions of solvable noncondensable gases and volatile species to enhance the rate of heat and mass transfer during absorption and evaporation/condensation in dispersed systems is a necessary step to enhance the efficiency and reduce the size of gas-liquid contactors.
