Résumé

To investigate different structures of heat exchanger plates for application in absorption heat pumps, a test rig has been developed and applied for an experimental study. The test rig consists of a pair of heat exchanger plates, placed in a vacuum tight plexiglass chamber. The transparent chamber allows visual observation of the wetting behavior of the falling film on the heat exchanger plate at subatmospheric pressures. The test rig can either be operated with water for the investigation of the two heat exchanger sections operating as evaporator and condenser, or with water/lithium bromide solution for operation as generator/absorber. In the first set of experiments, two horizontally structured plates have been examined and referenced to an unstructured plate. The experiments reveal that especially the 0.5 mm capillary structure improves the wetting behavior of the test plate and achieves a relatively high heat transfer coefficient in the magnitude of 1.8 kW/m² K, even at low distribution rates.
