Performance d'un système frigorifique à éjection à l'ammoniac : une approche naturellement écologique.

Performance of ammonia based ejection refrigeration system: a naturally green approach.

Résumé

Ejector refrigeration systems conventionally operate with steam/water as refrigerant and in the latest research activities, it has been analyzed with other halocarbon refrigerants. However, with growing concern over the global warming and ozone depletion potentials of CFCs and HCFCs, interest in ammonia in ejection refrigeration systems is growing. Ammonia is one of the oldest refrigerants which have unparalleled thermodynamic properties as well as environmentally friendly properties. It has zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and zero global warming potential (GWP). These properties obviously make ammonia an attractive option as a refrigerant, as compared to chlorofluorocarbon refrigerants which have high global warming and ozone depletion potentials. The paper presents the performance study of ammonia based ejector refrigeration system. The effect of variation of generator/boiler temperature, evaporator temperature and entrainment ratio on the condensing temperature has been specifically analyzed. The COP has been then analyzed with reference to these operating parameters. An important outcome of the analysis is the derivation of empirical relation for these operating temperatures and COP. The results so obtained can be experimentally established and can pave way for improved ejector performance with ammonia as refrigerant.
