Performance and viability of a H2O/LiBr absorption heat transformer driven by solar energy for heating applications.

Performance et viabilité d'un transformeur de chaleur à absorption au H2O/LiBr fonctionnant à l'énergie solaire pour les applications de chauffage.

Résumé

In solar assisted plants, heating can be supplied directly by thermal solar collectors if enough solar radiation is available or using a thermally driven heat pump. The use of a heat pump requires the consumption of driving heat at high temperature usually generated in a boiler. Instead, a solar driven absorption heat transformer (AHT) could be used to produce heating without any consumption of fossil fuel other than that required to generate the electricity to drive the solution pumps. The objective of this paper is the development of a detailed steadystate model for the simulation of a small-scale water/LiBr AHT integrated in a flat plate solar collectors plant. The developed AHT performance model is integrated in a Trnsys solar plant model to evaluate the system energy performance for a whole heating season in several climatic conditions. The results are compared with those using a conventional boiler heating system in terms of primary energy and economic savings to study the technical and economic viability of the proposed system.
