Résumé

Heat pumps can play an extremely important role in reducing carbon emissions in heating. Especially, it is extensively applied in waste heat recovery, improving the energy utilization efficiency. As the review of heat pump study, the industrial heat pump is trending for four features, using low-GWP refrigerants, having high-temperature output, with megawatt heating capacity and high efficiency. “Ultra heat pump” (UHP) was proposed as the development trend. This paper first introduced the concept of “UHP”, followed by the selection and assessment (S&A) strategy of compression heat pump, which is the design instruction of “UHP”. Further, a 400 kW high-temperature heat pump (HTHP) prototype was built to prove the possibility of the “UHP”. Based on the S&A strategy, R1233zd(E) was selected as the working fluid, two-stage compression with vapor injection was adopted as the configuration, centrifugal compressor was chosen to achieve the efficiency breakthrough. Finally, a megawatt waste heat recovery demonstration for waste heat recovery and district heating is introduced. Centrifugal compressor and two-cycle parallel connected system were adopted to achieve high efficiency and large heating capacity. Four rated 10.5 MW heat pump units with rated COP of 5.7 were designed. Therefore, this paper shows the perspective and possibility of “UHP” from design, experiment and application.
