Résumé
One of the most challenging techniques for widely using oscillating-flow systems is the design of the heat exchangers whose lengths are limited by the local peak-to-peak gas displacement. This difficulty is often encountered in high power density systems or in the cases where cooling power is required at distant position from the system. In this paper, the authors report a novel heat transfer loop for the oscillating-flow systems. In the loop, the heat exchanger uses a pair of check valves to transform oscillating flow into steady flow which could pass through a remote high-temperature or cold- temperature heat source and exchange heat therein. Unlike traditional heat exchangers, the length of this novel heat transfer loop is not limited by the gas displacement. In addition, it is also different from the resonant self-circulating heat exchanger that needs a specific resonant length. To understand the working principle of the novel heat transfer loop, experimental study have been done, which is presented in detail in this paper.
