Résumé

The paper discusses a number of acoustic issues that arose on a recent project in Melbourne. The project was an extension to a heritage listed building adjoining the Melbourne CBD. The original building is a heavy brick and stone construction built in the late 1890s. The building was altered by the addition of a new administrative wing with new meeting rooms and general offices. Problems arose because of the resulting acoustic environment within the office areas and the measures taken by the project manager and the services engineers driven by cost savings.
