Résumé

Energy efficiency is adopted to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint in many industries. Building sector's energy consumption accounts for 20.1% of the total energy production around the world. According to EIA 2016 report, India is leading the energy use growth rate of 3.7% in commercial building sector in the non-DECD Asia region. In the commercial buildings sector, building cooling accounts for 31% of the total electricity consumption. Combined power and cooling for commercial buildings is an energy efficient method through decentralized energy resource technology. Depending upon the fluctuation of cooling load, the combined system can simultaneously generate cooling and power as per the requirement thereby minimizing the greenhouse gas emission. Ammonia based absorption system for combined power and cooling is investigated in this paper for a typical commercial building in an hourly and monthly variation with the corresponding hot water requirement and system performance.
