Résumé

PCE (Phase Change Emulsion) is a mixture of an aqueous surfactant solution and fine particles of PCM (Phase Change Material) dispersed inside it. PCE is attracting attention as a novel thermal medium because it offers not only high-density thermal storage utilizing latent heat of the PCM but also easy heat transportation due to its high fluidity. In the present study, PCEs are prepared according to D-phase emulsification method and their properties are evaluated experimentally. Two different kinds of paraffin-PCMs, n-hexadecane and n-octadecane were dispersed inside the PCE and their mass fraction is varied as a parameter. It became clear that the PCEs show extremely similar particle size distributions regardless of the dispersed material or its mass fraction. In addition, viscosity of the PCE increases with increased PCM mass fraction in agreement with theoretical values. Furthermore, their heat of fusion and specific heat were evaluated by temperature history method.
