Résumé

Despite natural gas purification is mandatory before its liquefaction, the traces of heavy compounds that remain in the feed and the lack of knowledge about their solubility in multicomponent mixtures result in a risk of crystallization. Because their high melting temperature and low-solubility in methane, BTEX (Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, and Xylenes) are among the main critical heavy compounds special attention is paid to, and their concentration is commonly reduced down to 10 ppmv. To make a deep insight into the solid-fluid equilibria behavior of mixtures containing BTEX, several measurement campaigns of their solubility limits in methane-rich mixtures have been recently carried out down to LNG temperatures. This work presents a first part of the experimental results, i.e. the solubility of solid benzene in three methane-rich mixtures. The measurements have been obtained using a static-analytic apparatus equipped with a liquid nitrogen cryostat and a sampling circuit for the analysis of the fluid phases by gas chromatography.
