Résumé

The article presents a short description of the new £42 million Barclaycard headquarters complex housing 2,600 staff. Design emphasis was on energy efficiency and natural ventilation. A large lake is used as a thermal accumulator. Openable windows under user control and radiators with thermostatic valves are supplemented by air supply via the floor supplied from roof mounted air handling units. The article outlines the four distinct modes of operation of the building and notes the emphasis on prefabrication.
