Résumé

A brief history of thermoacoustical investigations is given, beginning from Rijke, Sterling, through Relay, Takonis, works on instabilities in rocket propellers and finishing with modern developments on efficiency of thermoacoustical devices and acoustical converters. The calculation formulae, allowing quantitative determination of potentials of these transformers are presented. The experimental developments on thermoacoustical and acousthermal devices are mentioned.
