Résumé
Existing studies have not yet clearly elucidated the effect of the flow velocity of low-temperature heat transfer fluids (HTFs) on the thermal performance of spiral coil heat exchangers (SCHE). Accordingly, an experimental solar heat pump (SHP) system was constructed to quantify the impact of low-temperature water inlet flow velocity on both the SCHE heat transfer characteristics and overall system efficiency. Experimental results demonstrate a positive correlation between inlet flow velocities and SHP thermal performance. Increasing the flow velocity from 0.2 m/s to 1 m/s significantly reduced SCHE heat loss from 12.1% to 3.9%. Consequently,
optimal system operation was achieved at 1 m/s, yielding average heating capacity gains of 17.5% and 42%, and coefficient of performance (COP) enhancements of 14.4% and 33.5%, relative to the 0.6 m/s and 0.2 m/s cases, respectively. Complementary CFD simulations validated these findings, revealing that at 1 m/s, the heat transfer coefficient (KSCHE) stabilized within the 350–400 W/(m²⋅K) range, significantly surpassing values in lower-flow regimes. Finally, the flow velocity-heat transfer intensity relationship for the low-temperature SCHE within an updated Reynolds number range of 3387–16,900 was quantified, and a velocity-COP analytical model was further developed, with the deviation between predicted and experimental COP values below 3%.
