Résumé

The paper introduces and develops a new concept, extropy. This is a non-equilibrium entropy potential, and it provides a calculable physical measure of the human impact on environment and formulates the physical limits of economic growth. Extropy thermodynamics will be a vital tool for the selection of a sustainable path.
