Résumé

A 15-kVA model superconducting transformer with iron core at room temperature was developed. Primary and secondary windings of the transformer were wound with multifilament BSCCO-2223/Ag tape. Coaxial superconducting primary and secondary windings were inserted in a non-metallic cryostat with warm hole in the cryostat centre and cooled by liquid nitrogen at 77 K. The transformer was tested for open end, short and load regimes. Losses of the windings were measured by an electronic power analyser. Total transformer losses were also determined from the measurement of the evaporation rate of LN2. In spite of some tape degradation due to the winding process the transformer achieved the design parameters and it was stable against thermal cycling. From electrical measurements the authors determined the parameters of elements of the equivalent scheme. The efficiency of the transformer is about 98%.
