Résumé

A practical time-dependent model for predicting the performance and efficiency of active magnetic regenerative refrigerator is developed and used to evaluate the cycle performance of the self-designed facility. In this model, irreversible multi-factors such as the cycle repetition, heat transfer efficiency, heat leak and properties of magnetic working substance are taken into account. The different steps of the AMR refrigeration cycle are analyzed and the refrigeration capacity and temperature span between the two heat exchangers are calculated. The model is also employed to analyze an AMR with a regenerator using spherical gadolinium particles as the magnetic material and water as the heat transfer fluid. The results show that the AMR is able to obtain a temperature span of 5 K in a 1 T magnetic field. The results provide useful data for future design and development of room temperature magnetic refrigeration.
