Résumé

Argues that, while natural ventilation has its place, it is unlikely to challenge the continued growth of the air conditioning market. Points out that in every other area of human existence, air conditioning is becoming more, not less, popular because of a natural desire to satisfy the basic need for comfort. Lists the criteria which must be met if natural ventilation rather than air conditioning is to be used to cool a building. Gives examples of projects where the controllable power of air conditioning is essential.
