Atelier sur les supermarchés lors de la 5e Conférence de l'IIF sur la durabilité et la chaîne du froid

A workshop was organised on April 7, 2018 as part of the 5^th IIR Conference on Sustainability and the cold chain which took place in Beijing, China. The two hour workshop had the aim of presenting recent findings by the UK EUED¹ (End Use Energy Demand) joint project on supermarkets, the European H2020 SuperSmart project² and the HPT Annex44 project³ to an international audience and initiate discussion for future work.

The workshop focused on the international benchmarking of supermarkets, the proposed European Eco-label for food retail stores, the retail refrigeration road map, modelling small food-dominated supermarkets as a whole system to improve efficiency of all subsystems, as well as market and policy trends in the Asian region. Questions and discussion highlighted the lack of consolidated data for up-to-date energy benchmarking, the need for simplified but robust models to assist decisions, and the spread of new refrigeration technologies in regions with warm climates.
