CO2 training courses in France

Climate change concerns and increasing use of natural refrigerants with low global warming potential (GWP) are driving demand for natural refrigerant training courses.
Climate change concerns and increasing use of natural refrigerants with low global warming potential (GWP) are driving demand for natural refrigerant training courses. GDF Suez, AFPI (Professional Industry Training Association for Britanny) and AMF (Matal Training Association) in France are among institutes that have created CO2 refrigerant teaching courses to meet the demand for skilled technicians.
The Suez training courses for refrigeration technicians combine theory and practical teaching on the operation and maintenance of subcritical and transcritical CO2 installations, cold storage rooms and above 0°C and sub-zero refrigeration. AFPI offers training courses for all cooling installations, including industrial applications, offshore, and protected environments. AMF offers a 2-day CO2 training course aimed at those already possessing a solid grounding in refrigeration.

Suez Refrigeration Training Institute
Originally conceived by Jean-Claude Logel in collaboration with SCM Frigo in Italy, the mobile CO2 team at the Suez training Institute was one of the first in France to offer training for all CO2 applications. A certified teaching institute, the Suez 2010-2011 training courses include the following options: FF2 Refrigerant fluids – how to handle CO2; Fi2 Industrial refrigeration - operation and maintenance of CO2 subcritical and transcritical installations; FC1, FC2, FC3: Commercial refrigeration – operation and maintenance of commercial installations and operation of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
Other courses at the Institute include: pressurized equipment training, RE1 and RE2 - equipment management training, CP1 and CP2 - compressor training for piston and screw compressors, LEG - safety training for the prevention of Legionella and e-learning.

AFPI course structure
In collaboration with French Universities and University Institutes of Technology (IUT) AFPI offers two courses in Brest, the CQPM MQ261 Cooling Technician certificate and the 12-month EGC Professional License (energy and commercial and industrial HVAC&R). AFPI students choose from 9 training modules:

2-day AMF training
The AMF course takes place in Nantes and targets persons with prior refrigeration knowledge. It covers a broad range of aspects.

Background
The Suez Refrigeration Training Institute is a subsidiary of Axima Refrigeration and has specialized teaching facilities in Strasbourg, Marseille, Aubagne, Nantes, Carquefou, Lyon Vénissieux and Lille Lesquin. A team of 20 instructors are on hand to provide CO2 and ammonia training.

The Professional Industry Training Association for Britanny (AFPI) has been providing technical schooling for over 30 years and trains over 10 000 individuals every year.
