The Department of Environmental affairs of the Republic of South Africa (DEA), in collaboration with UNIDO, organised a RSA HPMP Road Show which visited the cities of Midrand, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town between June 11th and 22nd, 2018. The purpose of this road show was to inform the professionals in the cooling industry of the South African HCFC phase-out management plan and the future phase-down of HFCs, as South Africa will soon ratify the Kigali Amendment. Ina Colombo (IIR) explained the mandatory nature of the F-Gas Regulation and compliance requirements in Europe. The event was well attended.

It is important to note that 80% of the panel of guest speakers from various sectors were women. Margaret Molefe from DEA stated that the number of women registered by the SAQCC (South African Qualification & Certification Committee) is very low and this issue should be adressed.
