Résumé

Daikin Industries was established in 1924 as a manufacturer of honeycomb radiator tubes for aircraft engines. In 1937, it was successful in synthesizing chlorofluorocarbons by itself. Then it started the production of refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment using methyl-chloride and/or R12 as a refrigerant. During the 2nd world war, R12 systems were installed in the military ships and vessels such as submarines. Just after the war, R12 was supplied to the US forces in Japan. By virtue of the nation's successful rehabilitation, its refrigeration and air-conditioning business has achieved favorable growth. It is now the principal part of the company's operations, covering residential, commercial and industrial fields. It also operates overseas plants of large scale in Belgium, Thailand, etc., and its products are marketed worldwide. Recently its efforts are concentrated to develop environment-friendly products. This book introduces its historical course from the technological point of view. To make the readers' understanding easier, basic theories and general progress of technology on refrigeration are added.
