Résumé

Coiled spirally fluted tubes have been experimentally and numerically investigated to predict heat transfer and pressure drop of tube-side for the tubes used in coiled tube-in-tube exchanger with continues Reynolds number ranged from 30,000 to 100,000. Configuration of experiment set-up, parameters of the tubes, experiment methods, model for calculations and data reduction method are presented. Two spirally fluted tubes with 6 spirals and different helical pitches were experimentally investigated to show the performance of pressure drop; to achieve over-all heat transfer coefficient the other one spirally fluted tube is made into a tube to tube exchanger. The results are shown as friction factor, and over-all heat transfer coefficient versus Reynolds number. Physical and numerical model has been established to simulate flow in the tested tube to tube exchanger. Empirical equations were used for predicting friction factor. Compared with the results predicted by empirical formulas, experiment results show that friction factor is 3 to 3.5 times as high as for coiled smooth tube. Friction factor dependents primarily on and decreases with Reynolds number, and over-all heat transfer coefficient increases with Reynolds number. The flow regime in investigated tube is far more homogeneous than smooth case, and a large eccentric eddy is produced in any cross section.
