Résumé

The performance of an adsorption system is experimentally investigated using an adsorbent-coated heat exchanger. Maxsorb III is coated on the surfaces of the adsorbent heat exchanger whilst ethanol is employed as the refrigerant. The experimental setup consists of a single adsorber bed with a shell and tube heat exchanger employing as adsorber + evaporator and desorber + condenser. The sorption performance of the selected pair is investigated using assorted temperatures and flow rates for the heating and cooling sources. The heat source temperature ranges from 60° C to 80° C whilst the evaporating/condensing temperatures are set at 5° C, 15° C and 25° C. The performance of the system is assessed various indicators such as net uptake, specific cooling
capacity and adsorber heat capacity. The overall heat transfer coefficients of the heat transfer processes i.e., the evaporation, condensation, adsorption and desorption process are evaluated using the experimental data.
