A study of a new air-conditioning way using the fluctuating air movement cooling.

Auteurs : XU G., KUNO S., SAITO T.

Résumé

This study focuses on the effectiveness of the fluctuating air movement cooling to occupants in summertime. Subjects were firstly exposed to a hot room (34^, 60% rh, still air) for 1 hour, then moved to a neutral or slightly warm room (30^, 50% rh, constant or fluctuating air movement) and stayed for 1 hour. The skin and oral temperatures were measured, and a series of questions about their thermal comfort were answered. As conclusion, the fluctuating air movement cooling was more desirable than the constant one, and it maintained thermal comfort and increased the occupants’ pleasantness. It is feasible and effective to apply the fluctuating one for the task-ambient personal air-conditioning system.
