Résumé

Mesoporous silica with hexagonal layout was investigated for its adsorption-desorption properties with water for the purpose of utilisation as an adsorption heat storage material. Pore sizes of tested silica in this case are in the lower region of mesoporous materials from 1.8 nm up to 4.2 nm and all of the samples were showing strong affinity towards water. In all cases, the adsorbed amount was more than 0.3 g/g water per unit of adsorbent, although, some disparities between adsorbed and desorbed amount were observed. As a typical mesoporous material, the mesoporous silica shows the Type IV isotherm with the majority of the adsorbed amount in a form of capillary condensation. High adsorption amounts together with high durability and thermal and chemical stability are promising factors for utilisation of mesoporous silica as a prospective material for adsorption heat storage.
