Résumé

Soil thermal imbalance due to excessive heat extraction and photovoltaic efficiency decline caused by temperature increase are two bottleneck problems preventing the utilization of solar and shallow-geothermal energy. This paper proposed a novel building integrated photovoltaic/thermal (BIPV/T)-energy pile system to address soil imbalance and improve the electric efficiency of PV panels. This novel system is investigated for the case study of an office building in the severe cold region of China using TRNSYS. Results show that the electric efficiency of the BIPV/T collector is increased by 22.70% compared with the BIPV collector, the soil temperature only slightly decreases by 1.5 °C for ten years, the heat pump unit maintains an annual coefficient of performance (COP) of 3.21, and the accumulative building load is reduced by 1.15% over a year.
